Slow Turning

Like the song says, you can learn to live with love or without it

What’s Your Dream?

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday, I was going to look for a quote to post to so that I could publicly share my acknowledgement of the day.  It seemed trite and superficial but I couldn’t think of a better way to acknowledge the day.  Then Same Love came on.  As I listened to the words of the song, I realized that Martin Luther King, Jr’s dream is being lived through artists like Macklemore and songs like Same Love.

I do not have any profound words to add to this discussion.  All I can say is that realizing that his dream is still alive is comforting.  Knowing that it is not a nostalgic idea from the past gives me hope for today and tomorrow.  A whole new generation may not understand what I Have A Dream means, but they’ll know about the dream because of songs like Same Love and blog posts like Guy Talk: Why A Straight Man Like Me Cares About Transgender Rights by Dan Solomon.
